A big thank-you goes to all our partners. They support the organization, the preparation and most of all the national tournament either financially or otherwise! Without them, all of this would not be possible.

All partners...

The SYNT is organized by the organization Pro IYPT-CH. The aim of Pro IYPT-CH is to make the idea behind the International Young Physicists' Tournament (IYPT) better known in Switzerland and to promote and support the commitment of institutions, teachers and students. Starting 2017 our organization will also focus on younger students interested in science and offer a new tournament: the Swiss Young Naturalists’ Tournament (SYNT).

Beside organizing the Swiss tournaments SYNT/ SYPT and the preparation events SYNT Workshop/ SYPT Physics Week, the tasks of Pro IYPT-CH include publicity, the selection and preparation of the Swiss teams for the IYNT and IYPT as well as the coaching during these tournaments. The board is responsible for the detailed decisions and the executive work.

The membership is open to everyone who wants to support the SYNT and SYPT or the idea behind the IYNT/IYPT in Switzerland for a modest yearly contribution. If you would like to support the organization and at the same time stay in contact to other members, then a membership is the best way to go; just fill out this form.

Pro IYPT-CH and its partners are committed to offer all participants the optimal preparation for the SYNT and IYNT. Therefore Pro IYPT-CH invests part of its budget in equipment. The process of acquisition is defined in the document “Beschaffungsreglement” (see below, only available in German). We distinguish between consumables and experimental equipment and different regulations apply respectively. In any case the applicant must fill out the form “request of procurement” and send it to the president of Pro IYPT-CH, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Students as well as supervisors may hand in a request.

Please note that Pro IYPT-CH already possesses certain experimental equipment. Most of which are stored at the head quarter of Pro IYPT-CH at the MNG Rämibühl in Zurich. The equipment can be used by participants. Please contact us in time.

Requests for experimental equipment that will also be used by others (e.g. standard school equipment) will generally be declined. The same applies to equipment that does not possess a direct benefit for a SYNT- or IYNT-problem or that is not suited for the use by students.

If you are considering to acquire any kind of equipment we in any case suggest you to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. us as early as possible.

Important documents:

The whole workload in the organization is beared by the voluntary board members. They are responsible for all the administrative tasks, the collection of money, the website and other media for publicity. Furthermore, they organize the SYPT, the team qualification and the preparation of the selected team. Some of them are even part of the Swiss delegation and accompany the team to the international tournament to coach them on site.

The participation at the SYNT is free for all participants. Costs for travelling and meals are paid the Pro IYPT-CH. This is only possible due to the generous support of the following institutions and companies.
