The Swiss Young Naturalists' Tournament (SYNT) is a Swiss competition held in English, where science enthusiasts aged 12 to 16 from anywhere in Switzerland can participate. In preparation, they carry out their own research project, whose results are presented and defended at the actual tournament.
We’re happy to share that Zurich International School (ZIS) in Adliswil, Zurich will once again be hosting the SYNT this year. It’s always a great opportunity to connect, collaborate, and explore new ideas together — and we’re looking forward to another engaging and inspiring event. The registration is now open and will be open until one month before the event, which will take place on the 21st of March. More details will follow soon!

The SYNT 2025 at the Zurich International School in Adliswil was an amazing event, with twice as many participants as last year! All teams did very well, with the jurors handing out grades left and right. We hope to see everyone at the SYNT 2026!
Below you can see the final ranking of the teams and here are some images of the event. Congratulations to Olivia and Marco for winning the SYNT 2025! As you can see the results were quite close, especially towards the top.
The 2024 SYNT was a fascinating tournament to watch, as many of the fights came down to the wire. As there were four teams and three rounds, the SYNT happened in a perfect round robin format, with all teams being able to face each other.
In the end one team could show that they had prepared the best presentations and also brought up the most involved points regarding other teams presentations: Crystal Catalyst. This is the first time a solo team has won the SYNT. Congratulations to Neel Sen!
The other teams that participated were: BioHazards (Allegra Baschiera & Anoushka Jha), Iced Tea (Lilja Hausmann & Ruoxi Miao) and Through Time (Alessandro Eichler & Jonah Bendell).
We hope to see everyone again in 2025!
We are pleased to announce that the SYNT is coming to the ZIS (Zurich International School) in Adliswil Zurich.
The tournament will take place on the 12th of April. The problems can be found by following this link.
The registration is now open, just click on the button below. Registration closes on the 7th of March.
The schedule for the day and more exact information will be given to the participants in due time. This year we will offer two free sessions (45 min) of coaching to all participants that would like to take advantage of this offer. It is especially recommended for new students, who have not seen the format of the tournament yet. Participation in the SYNT is free.
